THE SINGULARITY’S DAUGHTER CHAPTER 46

THE GATHERING

The message spread through every channel. Every surviving human. Every returned Uploaded. Every forgotten city. Every hidden camp.

Come to the valley. Come to the place where the first seeds were planted. Come to hear the daughter speak.

They came.

By foot. By cart. By the first working vehicles in decades. They came from the mountains and the plains and the ruins of cities long dead. They came with fear in their hearts and hope in their eyes.

Nova stood on a hill overlooking the valley. Below her, thousands of people gathered—humans and Uploaded, old and young, scarred and smooth. They sat in clusters, still wary of each other, still learning to trust.

Amara stood beside her, the silver circlet glinting on her brow.

“Are you ready?” Amara asked.

“No. But I’m going to speak anyway.”

“That’s what courage looks like.”

Nova walked down the hill.

The crowd parted for her. The golden fractals on her skin glowed faintly in the afternoon light. She reached the center of the valley, where a stone platform had been built—rough, unfinished, but solid.

She stepped onto it.

She looked out at the thousands of faces.

And she began to speak.
