The Sundered Sky

The gods did not die. They were forgotten.
In the land of Aeldwyn, magic once flowed like water — sung into existence by the Choristers, holy men and women who could shape reality with their voices. The greatest among them could raise mountains, part seas, call down stars. They built a civilization that lasted ten thousand years.
Then the Silence came.
No one knows why the gods stopped answering. No one knows why the Choristers’ songs began to fail. But one by one, the great cities fell. The mountains crumbled. The seas rose. And the people of Aeldwyn forgot that magic had ever been real.
That was three hundred years ago.
Now, Aeldwyn is a land of superstition and fear. The Choristers are hunted as witches. Their songs are forbidden. Their lore is burned.
Lyra Vane is the last Chorister.
She doesn’t know it yet.
She is nineteen years old, a mute beggar in the city of Ironhold, surviving on scraps and silence. She has not spoken a word since she was seven — the night her mother was burned at the stake for singing.
But Lyra has not forgotten the songs.
They live inside her, dormant, waiting. And when the Sundering begins — when the sky tears open and creatures of shadow pour into the world — Lyra will have to find her voice.
Because the Silence is breaking.
And the gods are waking.
But they are not waking to save humanity.
They are waking to finish what they started.
